The Central Government issues an order to amend section 48 of the Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act, 1988. This order removes difficulties regarding the representation of the Initiating Officer and other parties before the Appellate Tribunal. A person, including the Initiating Officer, who is a party to any proceedings before the Appellate Tribunal may appear in person or take the assistance of an authorised representative. For the Initiating Officer, an authorised representative means a person authorised by the Central Government. For any other party, an authorised representative means a person authorised by the party.
