CBIC / GST updates 24-30 August 2026: tariff values, sugar IGST
CBIC reset tariff values for edible oils, brass scrap, areca nut, gold and silver, and set out IGST payment when Advance Authorisation sugar enters the TRQ.
The week in brief
What changed
Notification 71/2026-Customs (N.T.) replaces the tariff-value tables for edible oils, brass scrap, gold, silver and areca nuts from 26 August 2026. Importers of those goods must use the new values for customs valuation.
Circular 37/2026-Cus sets the IGST payment path for raw sugar originally cleared under Advance Authorisation and now converted to the Tariff Rate Quota. Importers ask the port assessment group to cancel the original Order Out of Charge, reassess the Bill of Entry, and pay on an EDI e-challan.
