The Directorate General of Foreign Trade has amended the export policy for Natural Barium Sulphate (Baryte) by reclassifying specific grades under ITC/HS codes 25111010, 25111020, and 25111090. Grade A (Specific Gravity ≥ 4.2) and Grade B (Specific Gravity = 4.10–4.20) baryte are reclassified from 'Free' to 'Restricted'. Consequently, exporters of these grades must obtain authorization or a license from the DGFT, following the procedures applicable to restricted items. Grade CDW (Specific Gravity < 4.0) remains freely exportable.

Subject: Amendment in export policy of Baryte (Natural Barium Sulphate) – regarding.
In exercise of powers conferred by Section 3 read with Section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992, read with paragraph 1.02 and paragraph 2.01 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2023, as amended from time to time, the Central Government hereby makes the following amendment in the export policy conditions relating to Baryte (Natural Barium Sulphate):
- The export policy of Baryte (Natural Barium Sulphate) shall be regulated grade-wise as under:

Export of Grade A and Grade B baryte shall be subject to authorisation/licensing by DGFT, in accordance with the procedure already followed for items falling under “Restricted” category.

Grade CDW baryte shall continue to remain freely exportable.
Effect of this Notification: Export policy of Baryte (Natural Barium Sulphate) is amended on a grade-wise basis by placing Grade A and Grade B under Restricted category and retaining Grade CDW under Free category.
