Open source pageSummary
Check the official recordThe Directorate General of Foreign Trade has amended the Non-ferrous Metal Import Monitoring System (NFMIMS) policy for copper and aluminium imports under Chapters 74 and 76 of the ITC(HS) 2022. The amendment modifies the timing requirement for obtaining an automatic registration number. Previously, importers were required to apply for registration before the arrival of the import consignment. Under the revised policy, importers are now permitted to apply for and obtain the registration at any time prior to the final customs clearance, specifically before the 'Out of Charge' order is issued. This change is intended to simplify compliance procedures and facilitate smoother import clearance processes.
