The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India advises all general insurance companies to note a government notification. The notification allows a tolerance up to 5 percent in the gross vehicle weight and safe axle weight. Re: Allowance of up to 5% limit on Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW)
This refers to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways notification dated 07.01.2016, which states that the tolerance up to 5% in the gross vehicle weight and safe axle weight may be allowed for the purpose of compliance to sub-section 3 of sec. 113 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (59 of 1988).
The insurers are hereby advised to take a note of the above notification.
