The Authority permits insurers to classify investments in preference shares and equity shares as part of approved investment under revised dividend conditions. Insurers apply this rule if the shares pay a dividend for at least two years out of three consecutive years immediately preceding. This rule applies for the period from 1 April 2020 to 30 September 2021, replacing the requirement of dividend payment for at least two consecutive years immediately preceding.

“अनुमोदित निवेश” के अंतर्गत इक्विटी निवेश के लिए लाभांश मानदण्ड Dividend Criteria for Equity Investment under “Approved Investment”
जीवन और साधारण बीमा परिषदों द्वारा किये गये अभ्यावेदनों पर विचार करते हुए प्राधिकरण आईआरडीएआई (निवेश) विनियमन, 2016 के विनियमन 14(2) के अंतर्गत प्रदत्त शक्तियों का इस्तेमाल करते हुए बीमाकर्ताओं को 1 अप्रैल, 2020 से 30 सितम्बर, 2021 तक की अवधि के लिए एतद् द्वारा “अनुमोदित निवेश” के एक अंग के रूप में प्राथमिकता शेयर और इक्विटी शेयर में निवेशों का वर्गीकरण करने की अनुमति देता है, यदि ऐसे शेयरों ने, “कम से कम लगातार पूर्ववर्ती दो वर्षों” के स्थान पर लगातार पूर्ववर्ती तीन वर्षों में से कम से कम दो वर्षों के लिए" (जैसा कि आईआरडीएआई (निवेश) विनियमन, 2016) के विनियमन 3(क)(4) और 3(क)(5) के अंतर्गत अपेक्षित है) के लिए लाभांश का भुगतान किया है।
Considering the representations made by Life and General Insurance Councils, the Authority in exercise of the powers conferred under Regulation 14(2) of the IRDAI (Investments) Regulations, 2016, hereby permits Insurers to classify investments in Preference Shares and Equity Shares as a part of “Approved Investment” if such Shares have paid dividend “for at least 2 years out of 3 consecutive years immediately preceding” instead of “for at least 2 consecutive years immediately preceding” (as required under Regulation 3(a)(4) and 3(a)(5) of IRDAI (Investment) Regulations, 2016) for the period from 1st April, 2020 to 30th Sep, 2021.
