Insurers must establish a Board-approved policy for AYUSH coverage, which includes criteria for enrolling AYUSH hospitals and day care centers as network providers to facilitate cashless services. Insurers are required to modify existing products that contain limitations on AYUSH treatments and implement robust standard operating procedures for network enrollment, service agreements, treatment protocols, and fraud prevention. Additionally, insurers must collaborate with the Ministry of AYUSH's Core Group of Experts to develop operational modalities for providing this coverage. These requirements become effective on April 1, 2024.

हाल में आयुष चिकित्साओं ने संवर्धित लोकप्रियता प्राप्त की है तथा वे आयुर्विज्ञान की एक स्थापित शाखा बन गई हैं। आयुष चिकित्साओं के लिए बढ़ती हुई माँग को ध्यान में रखते हुए, इन चिकित्साओं को अन्य चिकित्साओं के समकक्ष रूप में मानने की आवश्यकता है।
In recent times, AYUSH treatments have garnered increased popularity and have become an established branch of medicine. Considering the growing demand for AYUSH treatments, there is a need to consider these treatments at par with other treatments.
तदनुसार, सभी बीमाकर्ताओं को निम्नलिखित का अनुपालन करने के लिए सूचित किया जाता है: Accordingly, all insurers are advised to comply with the following:
Insurers shall have a Board approved policy for providing AYUSH coverage, which interalia, shall include their approach towards placing AYUSH Treatments at par with other treatments for the purpose of health insurance so as to provide an option for the policyholders to choose treatment of their choice. The policy shall also contain the quality parameters as well as procedure for enrolling AYUSH Hospitals/Day Care Centers as network providers for the purpose of providing cashless facility.
Insurers shall modify their existing products that contain limitations for AYUSH Treatments and ensure compliance with above directions.
Insurers shall have adequate controls as well as Standard Operating Procedures(SOP) for -
क. अपने नेटवर्क में अस्पतालों के नाम दर्ज करना; a. enrolling hospitals into their network; ख. आयुष अस्पतालों/डे केयर केंद्रों के साथ अपने स्वास्थ्य सेवा करारों में आवश्यक खंड रखना; b. placing necessary clauses in their health services agreements with AYUSH Hospitals/Day Care Centers; ग. मानक चिकित्सा की आचरण-संहिताएँ (प्रोटोकाल्स); तथा c. standard treatment protocols; and घ. संभव धोखाधड़ियों और उक्त प्रणाली के दुरुपयोग, यदि कोई हो, के संबंध में कार्रवाई करना। d. dealing with the possible frauds and abuse of the system, if any.
The Insurers shall actively engage with the Core Group of Experts for Insurance Sector constituted by Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India vide OM No. T.12020/02/2017 - DCC(AYUSH) dated 04.10.2023 and develop required modalities for providing AYUSH Coverage.
