Summary
Check the official recordThis Master Circular establishes the obligations for life, general, and stand-alone health insurers regarding rural, social sector, and motor third-party insurance for the financial years 2025-26 and 2026-27. It mandates specific coverage percentages for rural populations, dwellings, shops, and motor vehicles within allocated Gram Panchayats, as well as social sector coverage targets based on total lives insured. General insurers must also meet growth targets for motor third-party insurance for goods-carrying, passenger-carrying vehicles, and tractors. Insurers are required to coordinate with insurance councils for data management, obtain certification from Gram Secretaries, and report compliance quarterly to the IRDAI. The circular provides methodologies for measuring these obligations and establishes reporting requirements through the Insurance Information Bureau.
