Check the official recordThe Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India has amended the model product for health insurance policies covering persons with disabilities, persons afflicted with HIV/AIDS, and those suffering from mental illness. The modification ensures policyholders have an equal choice between Allopathic and AYUSH treatments. Specifically, expenses for inpatient care under Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy systems are now covered up to 100% of the Sum Insured during each policy year, as specified in the policy schedule. This change applies to all general and health insurance companies, excluding ECGC and AIC, and third-party administrators. The circular takes effect from April 1, 2024.

उपर्युक्त विषय पर आईआरडीएआई परिपत्र सं. आईआरडीएआई/एचएलटी/सीआईआर/विविध/58/02/2023 दिनांक 27 फरवरी, 2023 की ओर ध्यान आकर्षित किया जाता है। Reference is invited to IRDAI Circular no: IRDAI/HLT/CIR/MISC/58/02/2023 dated 27th February, 2023 on the captioned subject.
स्वास्थ्य बीमा पॉलिसीधारकों को एलोपैथी अथवा आयुष चिकित्सा का चयन करने का समान विकल्प उपलब्ध कराने के लिए, उपर्युक्त परिपत्र के साथ संलग्न माडल उत्पाद में निम्नलिखित लघु आशोधन किये जाते हैं। In order to provide the health insurance policyholders with an equal choice of choosing either Allopathic Treatment or AYUSH Treatment, the following minor modifications are made in the model product enclosed to the above circular.
लाभों की सारणी एवं उत्पाद संरचना के खंड 11 में उल्लिखित “आयुष चिकित्सा” और “आयुष” संबंधी खंड 4.2 का आशोधन किया गया है और इन्हें निम्नानुसार पढ़ा जाएगा: Clause 4.2. on “AYUSH Treatment” and “AYUSH” referred at clause 11 in Table of Benefits as well as Product Construct have been modified and shall be read as under:
“चिकित्सा-पद्धतियों की आयुर्वेद, योग और प्राकृतिक चिकित्सा (नेचुरोपैथी), यूनानी, सिद्ध और होम्योपैथी प्रणालियों के अंतर्गत अंतरंग रोगी देखभाल चिकित्सा (इन-पेशेंट केयर ट्रीटमेंट) के लिए किये गये व्ययों को पॉलिसी अनुसूची में विनिर्दिष्ट रूप में प्रत्येक पालिसी वर्ष के दौरान, बीमित राशि के 100% तक कवर किया जाता है।”
“Expenses incurred for inpatient care treatment under Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy systems of medicines is covered up to 100% of Sum Insured, during each policy year as specified in the policy schedule”.
उसमें विनिर्दिष्ट अन्य मानदंडों में कोई परिवर्तन नहीं है। There is no change in other norms specified therein.
यह परिपत्र 01.04.2024 से प्रवृत्त होगा। This Circular will come into force w.e.f 01.04.2024.
यह परिपत्र आईआरडीए अधिनियम, 1999 की धारा 14(2)(ख) के अनुसार जारी किया जाता है। This Circular is issued in terms of Section 14(2)(b) of IRDA Act, 1999.
