The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India deletes ten specific items from the list of optional covers that insurers may offer under health insurance policies. This circular modifies Annexure 1 of Chapter III of the earlier guidelines on the standardization of health insurance business issued in July 2016. Affected insurance companies must remove the deleted items from their optional cover offerings. The deleted items include dental treatment expenses, hormone replacement therapy, infertility procedures, obesity treatment, psychiatric disorders, corrective surgery for refractive error, sexually transmitted diseases, HIV or AIDS related expenses, stem cell implantation or storage, and aesthetic treatment or surgery.

Re: Modified Guidelines on 'Items for which optional cover may be offered by insurers'
In partial modification of Annexure 1 of Chapter III of the 'Guidelines on standardization of Health insurance business' issued vide Circular Ref: IRDAI/HLT/REG/CIR/146/07/2016 dated 29.07.2016, the following items are deleted from the said list of "Items for which optional cover may be offered by insurers".
