The procedure for granting license to Surveyors and Loss Assessors is defined in IRDAI (Surveyors and Loss Assessors) Regulations, 2015. Regulation 3(2)(c) of the said Regulations refers to examination i.e. passing of relevant paper(s) of 'Surveyor and Loss Assessor Examination' conducted by the Insurance Institute of India (Ill), Mumbai or any other Institute recognized by the Authority. 2. At present, the examination is being conducted by Ill, twice a year, on off-line mode. Representations were received for conduct of the examination on-line instead of off-line. Surveyors and Loss Assessors Committee constituted under IRDAI (Surveyors and Loss Assessors) Regulations, 2015 in the meeting held on 2th May, 2016, observed that except Surveyors examination, all the insurance intermediary examinations have moved to on-line mode and recommended that surveyors examination also be conducted on-line. 3. After due consideration of the recommendation, it has been decided to conduct on-line examination for grant of license for Surveyors and Loss Assessors from the next financial year i.e. FY 2017-18. 4.
