Subject:-'Women Entrepreneur's Enterprises -Revised Definition.'

As you are aware, in the policy measures for promoting and strengthening small, tiny and village enterprises announced in the Parliament on 6.8.91, it had been mentioned that the definition of women enterprises would be simplified. Need for simplifying the definition by dispensing with the employment of women workers was put forward by a number of agencies. Govt. have decided to revise the definition of 'women entrepreneur's and the revised definition is as follows:-

"A Small Scale Industrial Unit/Industry related Service or business enterprise, managed by one or more women entrepreneurs in proprietary concerns, or in which she/they individually or jointly have a share capital of not less than 51% as Partners/Share-holders/Directors of Private Limited Company/Members of Cooperative Society."

This supersedes the earlier instructions on the subject issued vide this office letter No. 7 (32)/88-EDP dated 4.11.88.

This may be brought to the notice of all concerned.
