Check the official recordThe Reserve Bank of India amends the Foreign Exchange Management (Export and Import of Currency) Regulations, 2015. The amendment inserts a Currency Declaration Form (CDF) into the regulations. Passengers must use this form to declare foreign exchange in their possession upon arrival in India. Passengers do not need to complete the form if the aggregate value of foreign exchange does not exceed U.S.$ 10,000 or if the value of foreign currency notes does not exceed U.S.$ 5,000. Passengers must produce the form to an authorized bank or money changer for currency conversion. Visitors must retain the form to present to Customs upon departure if they hold unutilized foreign exchange.

Foreign Exchange Management (Export and Import of Currency) (Amendment) Regulations, 2026
In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (ga) of sub-section (2) of Section 47 of the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999 (42 of 1999), the Reserve Bank of India makes the following amendments to the Foreign Exchange Management (Export and Import of Currency) Regulations, 2015 (Notification No. FEMA 6 (R)/RB-2015 dated December 29, 2015) (hereinafter referred to as 'the Principal Regulations'), namely: —
1. Short title & Commencement: These Regulations may be called the Foreign Exchange Management (Export and Import of Currency) (Amendment) Regulations, 2026. They shall come into force from the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
2. Insertion of Annex: In the Principal Regulations, after the existing regulations, the following Annex shall be inserted, namely:
