Check the official recordThe Reserve Bank of India increases the Bank Rate from 5.50 per cent to 5.75 per cent. This change revises the penal interest rates on shortfalls in Cash Reserve Ratio and Statutory Liquidity Ratio requirements. All banks must apply the new penal interest rates with immediate effect. The penal interest rates now equal the Bank Rate plus 3.0 percentage points or the Bank Rate plus 5.0 percentage points. These adjustments result in new penal rates of 8.75 per cent and 10.75 per cent respectively.
