Check the official recordThe Department of Telecommunications has extended the validity of frequency assignments made administratively for an additional three months. This interim measure applies to assignments that were previously extended until 12 July 2026. The extension remains effective until 12 October 2026 or until the notification of rules under the Telecommunications Act, 2023, whichever occurs first. These assignments continue to be governed by the terms and conditions specified in the Department's circular dated 13 April 2026.

Circular no. 2 of 2026
Reference is invited to this Department’s circular no.1 number dated 13.4.2026, whereby it was conveyed that, as an interim measure, frequency assignments made administratively shall continue for a period of three months beyond 12.4.2026 (i.e., till 12.7.2026) or until the notification of rules under the Telecommunications Act, 2023, whichever is earlier, and be subject to the terms and conditions annexed thereto.
In this connection, the undersigned is directed to convey that, as an interim measure, it has been decided to extend the said period of frequency assignments made administratively by a further period of three months beyond 12.7.2026, or until the notification of rules under the Telecommunications Act, 2023, whichever is earlier, and subject to the same terms and conditions as in the aforesaid circular dated 13.4.2026.
This issues with the approval of competent authority.
