The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India withdraws method number 2.11 for the determination of fruit content in fruit juices. This method appeared in the Manual of Methods of Analysis of Foods for Fruit and Vegetable Products. Food testing laboratories must now use a validated method of analysis. Laboratories may select methods from AOAC, ISO, Pearson’s, Jacob, IUPAC, Food Chemicals CODEX, Bureau of Indian Standards, Woodmen, Winton-Winton, Joslyn, or other internationally recognized regulatory agencies. This requirement applies to all FSSAI notified food testing laboratories. The order takes effect immediately.

Subject: Withdrawal of Method for determination of fruit content in fruit juices - reg.
The method for determination of fruit content in fruit juices (method no. 2.11) available in the Manual of Methods of Analysis of Foods- Fruit and Vegetable Products is hereby withdrawn.
2. Until a revised method for determination of fruit content in fruit juices is approved by the Food Authority, the food testing laboratories may adopt any validated method of analysis prescribed by AOAC/ International Organization for Standardization (ISO) / Pearson’s/ Jacob/ International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry/ Food Chemicals CODEX/ Bureau of Indian Standards/ Woodmen/ Winton-Winton/ Joslyn or any other internationally recognized regulatory agencies.
3. All FSSAI notified food testing laboratories are directed to comply with this order with immediate effect.
4. This issues with the approval of Competent Authority.
