Insurers must follow updated conditions for investments in Alternative Investment Funds and Fund of Funds under the Investment Master Circular, 2017. Insurers cannot invest in alternative investment funds that use leverage or borrowing outside permitted regulations, or in funds that create conflicting exposures. Insurers must ensure fund of funds comply with Section 27E of the Insurance Act, 1938 and prohibit overseas investments through fund offer document clauses. Insurers must obtain quarterly compliance certificates from the concurrent auditor and file them with quarterly periodical returns.

वैकल्पिक निवेश निधि (एआईएफ) में निवेश INVESTMENT IN ALTERNATIVE INVESTMENT FUND (AIFs)
निवेश - मास्टर परिपत्र, 2017 का बिन्दु 1.5 - वैकल्पिक निवेश निधि (एआईएफ) में निवेश, बीमाकर्त्ताओं के लिए लागू शर्ते निर्दिष्ट करता है। निम्नलिखित, 1.5.3 में उल्लिखित निधियों की निधि (एफओएफ) के लिए लागू प्रावधानों का स्थान लेगा, Point-1.5 of Investment - Master Circular, 2017 specifies the conditions applicable for Insurers Investment in Alternative Investment Fund (AIF). The following shall replace the provisions applicable for Fund of Funds (FoF) mentioned in 1.5.3
1.5.3 (क) उन एआईएफ में निवेश की अनुमति नहीं है जो लाभ उठाते हैं या दैनंदिन परिचालननात्मक आवश्यकताओं को पूरा करने और सेबी (वैकल्पिक निवेश निधि) विनियमन 2012 के अंतर्गत यथा अनुमेय के अलावा, उधारियां लेते हैं। (a) No investment is permitted into AIFs which undertake leverage or borrowing other than to meet day-to-day operational requirements and as permitted under SEBI (Alternative Investment Funds) Regulations, 2012.
(ख) बीमाकर्त्ता, केवल उन्हीं निधियों की निधि (एफओएफ) में निवेश करेगा जो बीमा अधिनियम 1938 के अनुच्छेद 27 ई की शर्तों का पालन करती हैं। (b) Insurer shall invest only into Fund of Funds (FoF) which comply requirement of Section 27E of the Insurance Act, 1938.
(ग) बीमाकर्त्ता, ऐसे एफओएफ को उन एआईएफ में, जो विदेशी कंपनियों/निधियों में निवेश करते हैं, में निवेश करने से प्रतिबंधित करने के लिए एफओएफ द्वारा निष्पादित निधि प्रस्ताव दस्तावेजों में एक धारा द्वारा अनुच्छेद 27ई का पालन सुनिश्चित करेगा। (c) Insurer shall ensure compliance with Section 27E by a clause in the Fund Offer Documents executed by FoF to restrain such FoF investing into AIFs which invest in overseas companies/funds.
(घ) कोई बीमाकर्त्ता किसी ऐसे एआईएफ में निवेश नहीं करेगा जो उस निवेश को एफओएफ में निवेश करता है जिसमें बीमाकर्त्ता ने निवेश किया हुआ है। (d) No Insurer shall invest in an AIF, which in turn has exposure to a FoF, in which the Insurer has taken an exposure.
(ड.) बीमाकर्त्ता, तिमाही आधार पर, उपरोक्त शर्तों के अनुपालन के संबंध में समवर्ती लेखा परीक्षक द्वारा जारी प्रमाण-पत्र प्राप्त करे और तिमाही सावधिक विवरणियों के साथ फाइल करे। (e) The Insurer on a quarterly basis, obtain a certificate issued by the Concurrent Auditor on the compliance of the above conditions and file the same along with quarterly periodical returns."
