PFRDA updates 24-30 August 2026: PoP charges, NPS scheme classes
PFRDA reset Point of Presence charges for NPS and NPS Lite and required Pension Funds to classify, name and disclose schemes under one framework.
The week in brief
What changed
PoP charges for all NPS and NPS Lite schemes are now ₹200 per PRAN onboarding and 0.20 percent of AUM a year. Digital non-face-to-face onboarding is ₹100. Dormant accounts stay exempt. Subscribers who joined through a PoP pay these charges even if they later contribute on e-NPS or D-Remit.
Pension Funds must classify schemes as Lifecycle, Active Choice, NPS Sanchay, Multiple Scheme Framework or 4A, rename MSF schemes within 30 days, and merge any extra schemes per category within 45 days. Each scheme needs an NPS Scheme Essentials Document and a Risk-o-meter. New schemes need prior PFRDA approval.
