The Central Government amends Rule 31 of the Drugs Rules, 1945 to revise residual shelf-life requirements for imported drugs. The licensing authority prohibits the import of any drug with less than one year of residual shelf-life at the time of import. For biological drugs and radiopharmaceuticals, the authority permits import if the drug retains at least sixty percent of its labelled shelf-life. These rules apply to all entities importing drugs into India. The amendment takes effect immediately upon publication in the Official Gazette.
