Sublect: Recruitment of Chief Engineer (Civil) on Deputation
(lncluding Short Term Contract) basis, in ESI Corporation.
Applications are invited for one (01) vacancy in the cadre of Chief
Engineer (Civil) in Pay Band-4, Hs.37400- 67000 + Grade Pay Fls. 8900/- [in
Level 13A (Rs.131100- ?16600)l in ESI Corporation on Deputation (lncluding
$hort Term Contract) basis.
a. Eligibility conditions, educational qualilications, experience, duties and
general conditions for the above post are indicated in Appendix-|.

DUTIES OT CHIEF ENGINEEN
i. C.E. will be head of the Engineering Department and will technically
sanction estimates including non-scheduled and market rate items of all
projects through out lndia.
ii. He will advise Director General in respect of technical matters to the
points of economy, eafety and good engineering practices.
iii. He will be a technical examiner to all buildings of hospitals, offices and
residential buildings.
iv. He will control S.E.'s, EE'$, AE's and other non-technical staff of
Engineering Department and Project Managemenl consulting
department.
v. CE will control the budget, technical specifications, variations, extension
of time, in accordance with standard engineering practices.
vi. He will also control over the project and responsible lo formulate
planning of New Project right from the conceptual stage to final
completion and also monitor the project.
vii. He will be responsible for total execution of works, procurement of
service$, supply. CE will approve or recommend to DG the bid
evalualion, agreement, period of completions and other proJect related
matters as per F.l.D.l,C norms adopted by E$lC,
viii. CE will control and have check on the performance and work of
Architects, Consultants, Structural Consultant Project Management
Consultants. He will also finalise the terms and conditions for
prequalilication and time schedule,
ix. CE will ensure the quality of work through regular lnspections of work
regarding progre$$, quality and completion and empowered to penalize
as per agreement.

x. He will also order and instruct the construction agencies and take
decisions on technical matters and also norms and specificatiorrs
prescribed by ESIC.
xi, CE will also examine and penalise construction agencies/contractors for
any violation of contract conditions and agreements.
xii. He is also responsible for conducting training, guidance to his
subordinate oflicers like $8, EE, AE & JE.
xiii. He is also responsible tor checking the maintenance of property
registers,, equipment regislers and history cards of repair & maintenance
of equipments.
xiv. He s also responsible for the duties of Arbitrator for various works.
GENEBAL CONDITIONS
t. Chief Engineer (Civil) on deputation (ISTC) basis will be posted at ESIC
Headquarters, New Delhi.
e. Terms and conditions of the appointment of officers selected on
deputation basis will be regulated in accordance with the orders
contained in Govt. of lndia, Ministry of Finance O.M. No. F.l (11)-E-lll
